Located in a backstreet just off Bideford‘s main shopping area, the Palladium Club is a hidden treasure. Attracting acts such as Wilko Johnson, The Hamsters and Dr Feelgood the club has built up a reputation for quality live music.

From rock and blues to regular club nights featuring soul, ska and funk there is something for everyone. Holding 150 people the venue has music every Friday and Saturday along with an open jam night on Tuesdays.

The club is now air conditioned for your comfort and upstairs there is a newly redecorated snooker room with fully refurbished table , a pool table and free wi-fi.

The picturesque, ancient, fishing village of Clovelly is uniquely special in that it has no cars and no individually owned houses. Its flower-strewn cottages "tumble like a waterfall" down a cleft in the 400' cliff along cobbled streets to the tiny working port and C14th quay. It combines a rich environment and an historic village, with so much to see and explore.

Glorious views over the coast of North Devon, stories of cannibals and unsolved murders, an ancient Iron Age fort, Norman church, donkeys and links to the Armada, Charles Kingsley, William Turner, Charles Dickens and Rex Whistler, all help to make this a unique experience.

A visit to Clovelly allows you to step back from the modern world into a still thriving community, where the buildings have remained unchanged for centuries, where history straddles three millennia and whose people offer a warm Devon welcome to visitors.

The famous cobbled street, know as 'Up-a-long' or 'Down-a-long', was built of stones from the beach. Visitors can only gain access to the village on foot as no traffic is allowed. Man-powered sledges transport all goods to the village, from groceries to furniture. Donkeys used to be the main form of transport for centuries, but they are now mainly used to give children rides around their meadow during the summer or can be seen posing for photographs in the street.

Appledore, is a delightful quayside village situated next to the River Torridge, it boasts a small but great range of shops, pubs, guesthouses and art galleries.

A thriving fishing and trading village since the 14th century, Appledore has been a famous boat building centre for many years and the shipyard is still active today.

Westward Ho! was named after Charles Kinsley’s novel Westward Ho!, which he wrote while staying in Bideford in the 1800s , i t should also be highlighted that this is the only place name in England that contains an exclamation mark.

It has three miles of sandy beachknown as the Golden Bay, and is famous for its Pebble Ridge, which lies between the beach and Northam Burrows Country Park.

Tourist Tip: - See if you can find the swimming pool that’s been cut out of the rocks next to Westward Ho! Beach.

The Kathleen & May was built in 1900 at Ferguson and Baird's Yard at Connah's Quay near Chester, for Captain John Coppack of Coppack Bros. and Co., one of the town's leading ship-owners. Since then this historic schooner has passed through many hands and now has a long and interesting history that has taken it from its launch, through to finally being moored at the Brunswick Wharf next to the Royal Hotel in Bideford.

The railway from Barnstaple to Bideford was opened in 1855, but was sadly closed to regular passengers in October 1965 as part of the notorious Beeching Report; the line from Barnstaple/Torrington/Meeth remained open to freight traffic until 1982.

Then the railway track was finally lifted in 1985 and converted into the now popular Tarka Trail Footpath & Cycleway.
